Once we had to say goodbye to Fort Pickens in Pensacola Beach, Florida, we began making our way north to Nashville, Tennessee which was part of the larger trip home to Chicago.

I don’t know what I was expecting from Hot Spring National Park, but it wasn’t what I laid eyes on when we first arrived.
The Pensacola area has so much for anyone in the family. Beaches, wildlife, water sports, historic sites, and modern military muscle…especially for the veteran, it’s a must-visit, and the perfect culmination to our Gulf Coast adventure.
From New Orleans, we started to make our way east, first for two nights at Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, Mississippi, near Bay St. Louis.

It’s been a long time since I last sat down to chat about our family. Life, often, gets incredibly busy and overwhelming around here, and Jason and I have to hunker down and get the work finished before we can see through the trees again.
